Fuel tanks often made of aluminum, steel or high quality polyethylene (PE). Repairing or replacement process can be varying depending on which material of tank you are using. Overtime, fuel tanks starts leakage due to corrode and that cause unnecessary problems to vessel.

This is why

Most of the boats come with good quality tanks built in and they last long forever. This depends on product’s company, manufacturers and materials used in tank.

There are many manufacturers who built custom marine fuel tanks, compatible to design and convenience of boater. They can handle full tank replacement and are efficient to repair damages like nothing ever happened to your boat.

Using stainless steel for small size tanks is good option but for large once it may not be that fit. SS battles with corrosion usually find in welds and joints. Aluminum has given preference for aluminum gas tanks and Aluminum Diesel Tanks. But the best alternative to both is high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Polyethylene is the first choice of tank holders as it doesn’t contain corrosion case.

Common Problems of Fuel Tanks

·         Unwanted rust at your fuel tank corner can lead you to place it in a corner of your garage. When your craft contacts with water, the rusty straps can impose difficulties on your shoulder. Plastic tanks are better solution to save you from this type of problems.

·         Frequently running your vessel low on fuel or gas overheats the motor. It gives the system more damages than before.

·         Boat gas tanks come with coils or pipelines that carry gas to engine. If they fractures or heat, they may be the source of fire and collision.

·         Aluminum fuel tanks should meet complete EPA standards. Improper fabrication process can also be the problem for you.

·         There can be fuel contamination or sensor issues with your aluminum gas tanks.

Sometimes finding small causes and fixing complex issues yourself is not a good idea. There are some obvious problems like slow filling, extra fuel contamination, or poor performance. When repairing or replacing your custom made fuel tanks, choose an experienced contractor to diagnose problems thoroughly.
