Why Non-Believers Should Read Abraham- Father of Atheism

Many atheists have rightly declared their non-belief in a god that does not seem to exist! This statement alone is enough to get me hanged in some countries. But, let’s think about it for a moment. Those who consider themselves atheist apparently set out looking for a god that doesn’t actually exist, and having failed at finding that god, declared that god does not exist.

While many Jews, Christians, and Muslims would easily take offense to this, and waste no time in coming up with all sorts of arguments to defend their belief in the existence of a god, but what these Jews, Christians, and Muslims fail to realize is that they too are arguing on the existence of a god that does not exist. So, in this case, it is the atheists who come across as being smarter, since they have recognized the non-existence of a “non-god.”

Keeping this idea in mind, the Christians, Jews, and Muslims who end up defending the existence of a god are the real idolaters since they seek to bring people into the fold of a god who is not really God. Now, let’s get a bit concrete and specific about this very sensitive matter.

Today, the vast majority of atheists in the world reject the concept of a god, which is believed by the Jews, Christians and Muslims. This is the god who hates other religions, hates democrats, hates homosexuals, and of course, hates sinners. This god of popular culture commanded Israel to commit genocide, drowned millions of people in the great flood, and plans to send down great balls of fire to end the world when the time’s right. And did I mention ending up being tormented in flames for all eternity if you have sinned and are thrown in hell?

One question, which the so-called believers need to ask themselves, is this – is their god really the God who Abraham revealed to us who just happens to be nothing like the violent and blood thirsty, people-hating god that is said to be believed by the billions of the so-called believers.

So, if God is not like the one that Christians, Jews, and Muslims are taught about in school, then what atheists are rejecting is a god who truly does not exist, but is more of a figment of our imagination, a sociological superstition or a religious wish. In other words, to deny a god that really doesn’t exist says nothing about the God who does exist.

This brings us back to the idea that this topic began with. Before we can discuss whether or not God exists, it is better to discuss what sort of god we are actually looking for.
