Why is dancing good for you

Dancing is a fantastic form of cardio workout which not only provides you to stay fit in a fun way, it also lifts your spirits and makes you happy, thanks to the endorphins level released.

Anyone can dance, thanks to the different types and tempo of dancing, which make it a suitable fitness exercise for people of all ages.

Dancing is a great and fun way to stay in shape and most importantly, cure for happiness.  The numerous physical, health and mental benefits dancing provides are as listed below:

1.       Great cardio workout

Dancing can be as good as any cardio workout.  As with any cardio workout, moving your body to the music is akin to taking those aerobic fitness programs which definitely burns calories. 

The frequency of your dance sessions and intensity of your dance workouts help you better manage your weight too.

2.       Promote Good Health

This endurance and fitness workout promotes good health.  It improves your circulatory system and stamina, hence condition of your lungs. 

You become more flexible as well, which is very important for your overall physical fitness, because being more flexible improves mobility which enables you to better perform some physical activities.  A more flexible you also make you less prone to injuries.

In addition, all the heart pumping when grooving to the music lowers risk of heart disease and decreases your blood pressure. 

This weight-bearing activity increases your bone density and strengthen your muscles.

Dancing is a great stress buster as well!  The level of endorphins released helps reduce stress and keeps depression at bay.

With this overall improved health well-being, you will become healthier and less prone to illness.

Sharpen your Brain

When you dance, you will need to remember the dance steps which will improve circulation to the brain.  This subsequently improves your mental functioning and helps keep your mind sharp and active. 

A great way to sharpen your brain and enhance your mental strength.

 Better Coordination and Agility

Dancing requires coordinating your body and two feet to the timing and tune of the dance music, so that you can dance harmoniously to the music.

Besides being better coordinated as a result of dancing to the beat and choreograph of the music, you become more agile as you improve your balance and enhance your spatial awareness. 

5.       Expanded Social Network and Improved Social Skills

Dancing promotes social bonding as it is a fantastic avenue for you to meet new friends and bond with them by your common interest – love for dancing.  Your social skills get better with time, as you need to interact with your new found dance tribe, dance classmates or new joiners. 

6.       Fun and Enjoyable

       Dancing is no doubt a fun and enjoyable experience, compared to some of the other cardio workouts or running on the treadmill.  For some dance workouts, you get the experience of dancing in the club, thanks to the top 40s music played, which surely gives you the high that you get in the club in a healthier manner (no alcohol in dance studios!).
