Why Exercise is a Keystone Habit?
Well, we all know that “Habits” are important!
Right habits
are building blocks to living a great life, while the wrong one’s just pulling
you down. However, there are certain habits like Exercise in particular that
have a ripple effect leading to development of other positive habits. To give
an example, I believe you would be more encouraged to eat right, after adding
exercise to your routine list of daily things.
What is the
ripple effect caused due to the keystone habit of Exercise?
Well doing
it first thing after waking up, is a good way to warm up the body for the day
head. If you are not a every-day gym goer, no problem you can indulge in doing
several body weight exercises. These include horizontal plank, Squats, leg
raises, pushups etc.
Charles
Duhigg, a famous columnist has very well described the loop of habits and
impact of keystone habits in his book “Power of Habit –Why we do what do?” He
further goes on to explain that in each habit there are 3 stages. The Cue,
Routine and finally the reward.
Exercising
right will not keep you healthy, but when combined with the right diet will
help you to lose weight if you are overweight, or gain weight if you are
underweight.
I would also
like to cite Alex Heyne from Modern Monk, YouTube channel who tool is a big
believer that the small every day habits make a big lasting change effect in
our lives. Please do watch his video’s,
I have been watching them for a long time and they are really informational and
not at all boring!
As for me, I
am 72 kgs now and want to lose at least 10 kgs of weight. May be just doing
body weight exercises will be a Good start
