Recruitment is one of the most important steps of staffing process.

Recruitment is the process of finding and hiring the best candidate in terms of requirements of that particular job opening, among the pool of candidates in a cost effective and timely manner. Recruitment is a whole life cycle which begins with identification of the requirements of the company as well as the particular job opening and ends with the introduction of the new employee to the organization.

There are two types of recruitment:
1. internal recruitment
2. external recruitment

1. Internal Recruitment: Internal recruitment is when a business/company looks for a candidate for the vacancy from within the existing workforce of the company. Internal recruitment again has two types’ transfers and promotions. A transfer implies when an employee is moved in a hierarchy of positions with the same pay and status where promotion refers to the movement of an employee to another job within the company’s hierarchy which is higher in salary and status. As internal recruitment is done within the organisation, it has certain advantages associated with it which are as follows:

• Avoids Termination
• Reduces Employee Turnover
• Quicker and Cheaper Way to Recruit
• Promotions may be motivating for the employees
