Travelling abroad is an exciting experience. Most of us are thrilled at the prospect of seeing new places and experiencing different cultures. Although travelling abroad is a thrilling experience, there are many hidden risks involved. When you are in a strange land away from friends and family, getting help in case of an emergency can be difficult. As it is, international travellers have a high risk of falling ill when travelling to foreign countries. Various typed of risks are covered by travel insurance, so that you can have an enjoyable trip without worrying about the trip going awry. Travel insurance can also be taken up for the entire family under a family travel insurance. Travel insurance covers a number of risks such as:

.Cancellation Or Trip Interruption: International tickets are expensive and cancellation of the tickets due to any emergencies can lead to huge losses. Travel insurance covers contingencies such as trip postponement, ticket cancellation of non- refundable tickets due to reasons such as medical emergencies, death of a close relative etc.

.Loss Of Baggage: A travel insurance policy provides protection against loss or theft of your baggage and other personal belongings. The insurance company would pay for the replacement of all the personal belongings covered under the policy. Before taking up a policy, one has to include the items you want to cover under the insurance and pay the premium accordingly.

.Medical Emergencies and Evacuation: A travel insurance policy covers the costs of emergency medical treatment in case you become injured or ill during the trip. Medical care in foreign countries can be very expensive, which is why an international travel insurance policy becomes necessary. Even the costs of returning to your home country after receiving medical treatment is covered under travel insurance. It means travel insurance is worth every cent.

.Personal Liability: In case you meet with an accident or accidentally cause damage and you are held accountable for it, the travel insurance will cover your liability and other legal expenses involved.

.Missed Departure: A travel insurance policy also covers the additional costs if you happen to miss the flight from the home country. However, the reason for missing the flight has to be genuine one such as pubic transport issue, vehicle breaking down etc. Even if you happen to miss the connecting flights to the final destination, you will be eligible for a refund under a travel insurance policy.
