Introduced in December 2003, the Avanza is a five-door MPV with a front engine, rear-wheel drive layout. It features a 1.3 L K3-DE gasoline inline-four enginewith a maximum output of 86 PS (63 kW; 85 hp) at 6,000 rpm (before 2006), a 1.3 L K3-VE VVT-i gasoline engine that produces 92 PS (68 kW; 91 hp) at 6,000 rpm, and a 1.5 L 3SZ-VE gasoline engine that produces 109 PS (80 kW; 108 hp) at 6,000 rpm. In Philippines, the Avanza also offered with a 1.4 L1ND-TV diesel engine that produces 90 PS (66 kW; 89 hp) at 3,800 rpm.
