Why Can You Count On Lgcs For Your Solar System?

by Steve Smith Latest News and Blog

One of the best ways to save money on your solar installation is to do it yourself. However, unless you have a lot of time and a knack for electrical engineering, installing your own solar panels can be an incredibly daunting task.

Fortunately, there are now companies that offer LGCs and will come to your home and install solar panels for you! All you need is some space on your roof and some cash up front.

LGCs are Used to Track Large-Scale Renewable Projects

Large-scale generation certificates (LGCs) are created by the Clean Energy Regulator based on the amount of electricity generated by a large-scale renewable power station. LGCs are used to track large-scale renewable projects and their contribution to achieving the Renewable Energy Target in Australia.

Large-scale generation certificates are created when electricity is generated, and can be traded on the spot market. A large-scale generation certificate represents one megawatt hour (MWh) of electricity generated from a large-scale renewable energy power station.

LGCs

The actual number of LGCs created is determined by the average power output of the generation capacity at a given site that has been installed with small-scale solar or wind turbines. The Clean Energy Regulator (CER) calculates this value and issues certificates based on it.

The owner of a facility can choose to sell their LGCs through their state-based renewable energy retailer or directly to customers such as yours, or they might use them to meet mandatory renewable energy requirements.

LGCs are divided into two categories: Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs) for wind, hydro and other eligible technologies, and Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) for solar photovoltaic systems.

Large-scale generation certificates (LGCs) are created when a large-scale renewable generator generates electricity. STCs are created when a small-scale solar generator generates electricity, and they can be traded between buyers and sellers of electricity.

An LGC is created when a generator produces more electricity than it can use or sell. The excess electricity is then sent to the grid, and an LGC is created for each MWh of renewable energy sent to the grid. This ensures that generators are rewarded for producing clean power that reduces Australia’s reliance on fossil fuels.

Conclusion

LGCs are a valuable form of renewable energy certificates and can be used as a reliable way to track the amount of renewable electricity generated by your solar panels or wind turbine.

They’re also ideal if you have an existing power station that is ready for expansion but needs funding to get started on building new turbines or solar panels.
