Different types of tresses at some point mat together if eventually left free of combing for some time. The particular texture of the hair decides the amount of time it takes.

Thick rough hair grows or develops dreadlocks quickly, easily, and might not need assistance. Slender straight hair will require more time. Also, it needs wax and rotating. Ultimately, the two varieties of hair will start developing dreadlocks.

It's not the question that from where these dreadlocks come from. Every type of hair can have dreads. But the question that arises is that which culture adopts them. Many communities across the world have dreadlocks.

The reason behind this, is, that it can be considered a symbol of pride and culture. Today, most people are adopt this hair style as in this you simply wash and go. But in others some sort of salon assistance is required.

If we talk about the history of dreadlocks, Bob Marley sang Buffalo soldiers and considered them as dreadlocks Rasta. This is because in past soldiers went to protect American settlers from Indians after the civil war and at that time they called them Buffalo Soldiers. The fact behind it that their hair looked like curly hair of a buffalo.

Irrespective of spiritual reasons, personal reasons or a fashion statement, dreadlocks have been in many cultures for many years. But now their popularity has not been reserved in African culture only but have also moved in other cultures also.

As stated before, anyone can grow dreadlocks with patience and the right technique. It doesn't matter the color of skin or which part of the world you live in.
