Which is the Best Centre for IVF treatment in Nepal?

by we care india Medical Tourism

Infertility means an inability to get pregnant after one year of attempting to conceive. Infertility exists in both men and women, but women have to take the strain of the infertility treatment.

Different techniques are used to induce fertility in women such as Artificial Insemination, IUI (Intrauterine Insemination), and IVF (In Vitro Fertilization). IVF is amongst the most popular methods used to promote fertility in both men and women.

What is IVF?

IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is the most common and effective method used to induce pregnancy amongst women. In this technique, the mother’s egg and father’s sperm are combined and kept in a petri dish in a laboratory. Once fertilization occurs, the resulted embryo is placed back into the uterus of the woman.

Unlike IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) – which involves placing the sperm directly inside the uterus, IVF is a technique where mature eggs are retrieved from the woman’s ovaries and are fertilized by combining them with a man’s sperm in a laboratory, in order to form an embryo or embryos.

What is the procedure of IVF treatment in Nepal?

Techniques used in the IVF treatment may differ depending upon the clinic or the doctor, but following are the common steps involved in the IVF treatment:

1.      Ovulation Induction

IVF process begins with the fertility medication where women are given the fertility drugs containing FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone). The purpose of this medication is to help the ovaries to produce more eggs that are mature and fertile.

Regular tests and ultrasounds are performed to keep track of the production process in the ovaries.

2.      Egg Retrieval

When ovaries have produced mature eggs, then a small surgery called “follicular aspiration” is done in which the doctor removes the egg. This process is performed using a needle attached to a suction device that pulls the eggs out of each follicle.

3.      Semen Collection

Once the eggs are retrieved, the process of semen collection begins in which we need the semen sample of the father or the sperm donor. A semen sample is best produced by masturbation.

4.      Insemination

The collected eggs after the surgical procedure are combined with the male sperm obtained from semen collection and are stored in a container in a laboratory. After some time the process of fertilization begins and the sperm enters the egg.

Sperm having low motility may inject directly into the egg to facilitate fertilization (IVF with ICSI). After the fertilized eggs divide and create an embryo, they get monitored by experts working at the laboratory.

  4. Embryo Implantation

After 3-4 days of monitoring the embryos, more than one embryo are placed in the womb, and this process is known as Embryo transfer.

Embryo transfer is done using a thin tube that helps in inserting the embryo directly into the uterus. For pregnancy to happen, it is crucial that one of the embryos should attach to the lining of the uterus.
