Green CSCS Labourer card

l Must not have an NVQ Level 3, 4, or 5 qualifications.

l Must not have an NVQ Level 6 or 7 qualification.

l Work experience as a Supervisor or Manager

l Not a member of a Professional Organization

Experienced Worker Card

Trainee Card

You must have a Level 3 NVQ or above in your employment function to earn the Advanced Craft CSCS card. You must also have passed the CITB Health, Safety, and Environment Test for your professional level. In most situations, Advanced Card candidates would take the Operative or Specialist test.

Black Manager CSCS Card

This is the CSCS card to have if you work in the construction sector as a manager. You will receive the card by passing a Level 5, 6, or 7 Construction Management NVQ. The card is also valid if you already have a Level 4 Construction Management NVQ. To obtain this card, you must also pass the CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety, and Environment Test. After 5 years, you must renew your Manager card.

Provisional card

If you have never held a CSCS card previously, you are only eligible to apply for a provisional card. Candidates for this card are often working during a probationary term in their occupation or gaining on-site work experience. To obtain the card, you must pass the CITB Health, Safety, and Environment test. After the card's 6-month expiration date, it cannot be renewed. If you have this card, you must also be enrolled in a relevant construction qualification and have applied for the appropriate CSCS card.
