What’s Causing My Yellow Skin?

by lean jack digital markerter

Are you seeing yellow spots ? Yellow skin can be a sign of many different things, from an underlying medical condition to something as simple as eating too many carrots. It’s important to determine the cause of yellow skin so that you can receive proper treatment. Here are a few possible causes of yellow skin and what you should know about them.

Jaundice is one common reason for yellow skin. This condition is caused by excess bilirubin, which is released when red blood cells break down in the body. A high level of bilirubin causes the skin to appear yellow and may also affect other bodily functions such as appetite or fatigu. If you suspect jaundice, it’s important to see your doctor immediately since it could indicate an underlying medical problem such as liver disease or gallstones.

Hepatitis

Jaundice is a condition in which the skin, eyes and mucous membranes turn yellow due to elevated levels of bilirubin, a byproduct of red blood cells. One common cause of jaundice is hepatitis, an inflammation of the liver caused by viruses or toxins. It can lead to damage in the liver that prevents it from processing bilirubin effectively. This can cause it to build up and ultimately lead to jaundice.

Hepatitis A, B, C and D are all contagious forms of hepatitis spread through contact with bodily fluids or contaminated food or water. Symptoms can range from mild flu-like symptoms such as fever and fatigue to more serious symptoms like dark urine, joint pain and abdominal pain.

Newborn jaundice

Jaundice is a condition where the skin and whites of the eyes turn yellow due to a buildup of bilirubin, which is produced when red blood cells break down. It is common in newborns and can be caused by different conditions. Newborn jaundice occurs in about 60 percent of all babies and usually resolves on its own within 2 weeks. However, if left untreated, it can cause serious health problems.

Newborn jaundice is typically caused by the baby’s immature liver not being able to process the bilirubin fast enough or an excessive breakdown of red blood cells due to incompatibility between mother and baby's blood types.

Acute pancreatitis

Jaundice is a condition that can cause yellowing of the skin and eyes, often due to an underlying medical problem. One of the possible causes for jaundice is acute pancreatitis. Acute pancreatitis is a sudden inflammation of the pancreas, which is a large organ located behind the stomach. This condition can lead to serious complications if it’s not treated promptly.

Acute pancreatitis usually occurs when digestive enzymes produced by the pancreas become activated while still inside this organ. These enzymes then start attacking and damaging your own body tissues, leading to inflammation, swelling and pain in the abdomen area. In severe cases, acute pancreatitis may lead to jaundice due to blockage or damage in bile ducts caused by swelling of the pancreas gland.
