What To Expect & How Much It Costs To Travel To London, UK As A Digital Nomad

One of the great things about the digital era is that, if you work remotely, you can travel the world without necessarily interrupting your income.

Being a digital nomad offers all kinds of freedoms, and with travel restrictions being lifted, gives you all kinds of opportunities to experience different parts of the world without blowing your savings.

A recent report from digital business experts Crucial Constructs looks at the viability of settling down in London for a spell.

Titled “How to be a Digital Nomad in London, England,” the report gives you a lot to think about. It offers suggestions on possible co-working areas and places you'll find internet connections, as well as lodging, transportation, restaurant, and nightlife recommendations and tips on insurance and healthcare coverage. It also warns, however, that London is pricey.

As a global leader in business, finance, and many other aspects, London is a popular destination for digital nomads and other professionals. If London is on your nomadic bucket list, you'll want to review the pros and cons listed on the Crucial Constructs report, because although it can seem glamorous, there are many things to consider before relocating.

Are you part of the digital nomad population? If so you're part of 15.5 million other American workers who say there's nothing like it.

In their report, Crucial Constructs notes that because of its impressive telecom facilities, London is an ideal location, if you can afford the lifestyle and can secure a working visa.

The report also reminds you that London is a global leader in many areas, so your living expenses will be comparatively high.

If you're planning on moving to London with kids, finding decent public schooling without being placed on a waitlist for forever will be a challenge. And then, of course, there's the weather. Don't choose London if grey and bleak skies are a deal-breaker.

And speaking of its high cost of living, authors of the Crucial Constructs report say you should weigh your earnings against your expenses to make sure you'll be able to live the lifestyle you want. Sure, certain digital gigs can be extremely lucrative, but if you're a freelancer with a bunch of short-term contracts or low-paying clients, you'll want to do the math.

If, on the other hand, you don't have any contracts in place and you don't have any freelance gig lined up in the Big Smoke, you can think about launching an online store. It's quick, easy to set up, and will allow you to simply monitor orders, shipments and inventory while the store performs 24/7.

A company spokesperson says, “Residing in London as a digital nomad is more complex than residing in Southeast Asia or South America. Expenses in London are high so it’s important to ensure your earnings are adequate.”

With the release of their report, Crucial Constructs gives you a range of pros and cons to consider if your nomad map includes London, England.

Get tips on careers that can make your move a rewarding experience, and some great suggestions for world-class food, cultural activities, sightseeing musts, and the things you can do to enrich your life as a digital nomad in London.
