What To Expect During Fertility Treatment

IVF treatment is not the easiest thing to go through, and it is important for couples considering the treatment to know what to expect during the process so that they can prepare themselves physically and emotionally. Before anything else, specialists will check the physical state of both parents individually to see if there are any physical obstructions within their reproductive systems. When both the egg and sperm are ready, they shall be combined, allowing fertilization to occur, after which the resulting embryo will be left to develop and grow for a few days. It will then be transplanted into the female’s uterus.

Once an embryo has successfully settled itself into the female’s uterus, the mother is advised to rest and she can return to regular visits with her obstetrician. If the parents wish, they can also have their egg or sperm frozen and kept in storage for future use. They can also choose to have more than one egg fertilized and have those embryos frozen and kept in storage, too.
