by Kosher River Cruise Kosher Tour Operator
The fountain of youth might still be missing but we have found the river of gold.

The golden hue of the river that from the setting sun’s light explains the title given to this Portuguese waterway. Traversing through the northern part of the country, the Douro river reaches the city of Oporto in Spain and connects with the Atlantic Ocean to the west. Capture the gleaming waters in photos while on board a Kosher cruise to complete the experience.

Douro River

Here are some of the things that you can do while enjoying your Kosher tour in Douro.

1. Take Pictures in Porto

This city is a paradise for photographers. Porto’s Ribeira District is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The colorful buildings that have stood the test of time are perfect subjects for photographs.

There are also well-preserved houses from where you can admire the river, and several plazas and local cafes are the center of festive vibes.

2. Have some Wine from the World’s Best Wineries

The vineyards and wineries of Sandeman’s Quinta de Seixo will give you a taste that will ignite your senses. Aside from wine, they are also proud of their gourmet products. You can enjoy jams and cheeses while having a picnic beneath the clear blue sky, with the sound of the trees dancing to the wind to set the mood.

Another iconic vineyard is the Quinta de Bonfim house. Owned by the Symington family, this house has been preserved for five generations. The porch of the house is a great place to enjoy some wine. If you want to learn about wine making, the house serves as a home to the old instruments, parts, and tools for wine fermentation and viticulture. Walking along the vineyard also offers a scenic view of the Douro with some photographs from the early 19th century on display.

3. Appreciate Art

Carvings of deer, horses, and goats have been unearthed at the Coa River-Douro River joint in the 1980s. This prehistoric outdoor art is considered as mankind’s oldest, dated to be 30,000 years old.

This site was supposed to be turned into a dam but efforts to declare it as a UNESCO site has preserved it, with a museum built at the top of a nearby hill dedicated to maintain the area and promote the culture and the arts.

4. Get lost in Peso de Régua

The capital of the Douro Demarcated Region, Peso de Régua is home to the Douro Museum which presents several artifacts from the old days, narrating the history of the region.

You can also visit the Roman Village of Alto da Fonte do Milho to uncover more of the secrets that the Douro keeps. Meanwhile, the Chapel of the Seven Corners is also a must-see spot to learn about the faith, belief and traditions of the region.

Lastly, a breathtaking photograph taken at the S. Leonardo viewpoint will serve as this Kosher tour’s icing on the cake.

The river of gold will surely be enough to enliven that youthful glow in you with its relaxing atmosphere and picturesque views–a great way to break the monotony of the quarantine once we can set sail again soon.

Consider a Kosher cruise along the Douro river for your next adventure.
