What the Professionals Look for During Pre-Purchase Car Inspections?

by James Spencer Blogger

When it comes to conducting pre-purchase inspections of used cars, special emphasis MUST be paid to certain factors and aspects. This is a pretty tricky job, for if you are not that familiar with scrutinising used cars, you may miss out on certain things and that may come down heavily on you.

That is the reason you need to hire professionals who will be able to focus on specific areas during the inspection.

The Paint

The pros would have a hard look at the paint and look for the dent. They will feel along the edges between the panels, for any roughness or presence of masked, old tapes, from old painting jobs. Rust is something that can be easily spotted.

They will also have a hard look at the body of the car from different angles to see if there is any wave or undulations on the body.

The Belt

The pre-purchase car inspections in Sydney would also look under the car's hood, for making sure, the belts and the hoses have not turned soft. If so, the belt must be replaced before the purchase and depending upon the condition the buck should end there.

The Tyres

The last thing that you would like to see in a used car is worn-out tyres. The pros will make sure that the car stands on the level. Making the car stand on a slope will give a false impression.

Secondly, they will ensure that the number of miles matches the wear unless the tyres have been replaced. In case the experts find that the tyres and worn ou or bald, yet the mileage is low, this means either the display is incorrect, or the tyres do not belong to THE car - originally.

They would also try the coin test. To do so, they would take a coin and place it in the treads' groove vertically. If the face is the face of the Queen is not always concealed in the groove, then it needs to be changed.

Next, they will see that whether all the tyres match each other. They might appear to be in healthy and perfect condition individually, but if their condition does not match, they will depreciate unevenly. That is the reason, the odd one of the 4 tyres needs to be replaced.

The Engine

Now, it time to turn to the very belly of the beast!! An expert mechanic needs to inspect the engine. They take into consideration a few things.

While checking the engine, they would look for leaks and signs of corrosion. With the engine needs kept running, they would use a dipstick to insert into the transmission and see if it is completely full. The colour of the fluid ideally should be pink or red. In older models, it may be darker, but should definitely not appear burnt, nor it should smell so.

The pros would also check the frame of the engine, and that of the car and the lights when they check used cars in Sydney.

With the exterior inspection done with, it is now the turn for them to turn to the interiors. However, we will deal with the interior inspection in our next article.
