What Size Trash Dumpster Rental Do You Need?

by PCI Dumpster Your trash is our business.

Whenever you're doing a home improvement project, you can rest assured that you're going to make trash. Lots of trash. Enough trash that you're going to overflow your kitchen trash can, bathroom trash can, most of your basement, and half of the back yard! All right, so maybe it won't be that bad. You never know. What you do know is that whenever you're launching any kind of renovation, demolition, or cleanout project, you're going to have to deal with piles of stuff. You're also going to want a trash dumpster rental to help you do it.

The Advantages of a Trash Dumpster Rental

What are you going to do with all of that trash, really?

Unless you live somewhere that allows you to burn building debris (and you're not wheeling and dealing in dangerous chemicals), you're going to need to haul it to a landfill. When the landfill's fifteen minutes down the road that's not a big deal, but when you don't live near a residential dump you're going to either spend hours upon hours driving back and forth with a pickup truck full of construction trash or… well, there really isn't an or! Dumpster rental in New York will give you a place to put all that trash while you're working, and the company will usually come and haul it away for you when you're done.

What Size Do You Need?

No matter what anyone tells you, there's no such thing as a one-size-fits-all dumpster. Big projects need big dumpsters, and little projects need little ones. Why pay a fortune for space you don't need? On the other hand, why inconvenience yourself just to save a buck?

Most trash dumpster rentals are going to come in the following sizes:

10-Yard Dumpster: The 10-yard dumpster is a pretty safe bet if you've got a small cleanout or remodeling project going on. For example, let's say you're wading through Aunt Esther's attic! These trash dumpsters typically hold up to 1 ton (2,000 lbs) of waste. If you've got more than that, you're going to need to go up a size!

15-Yard Dumpster: This is your dumpster of choice for kitchen and basement remodels, construction cleanup, and HVAC projects that generate up to 1.3 tons (3,000 lbs) of trash. We're talking about eight pickup loads worth here!

20-Yard Dumpster: The 20-yard dumpster is usually the prime choice for trash dumpster rental since it holds up to 2 tons (4,000 lbs) of debris (about ten pickup truck loads of "stuff"). This is good for whole house renovations, additions, large basement, and attic cleanouts, and getting rid of bulky furniture.

30-Yard Dumpster: The behemoth of the trash dumpster rental industry, the 30-yard dumpster rental holds about 15 pickup loads worth of trash and will give you the room you need to rebuild your home from the ground up.

When you're miles from a local dump, getting the right dumpster for the job is essential. So make sure you make the right choice the first time! Getting the wrong trash dumpster rental can set you back days on a project. Don't you have something better to do with your time than that?
