People nowadays do various kinds of businesses. Some of them turn out profitable, and some don't. One of the thriving businesses is, dealing with the import and export of marbles. Import-Export of marbles can be lucrative, but one should be aware of the process involved. There are numerous Marble supplier in India. And India has a massive number of Sandstone suppliers too. But again, the craze for imported marbles from other countries is also rising. Below are a few essential things that one should consider before venturing into the import-export business.

  • Commercial Invoices:

Commercial invoices act as legal evidence for sale transactions. They are essential for customs in different countries and help assess taxes and duties payable. Commercial invoices usually have prices, quantity, and value of products mentioned. The seller can also note the conditions on which the trade will occur between buyer and seller on commercial invoices.

  • Bill of Lading:

Business Dictionary describes a Bill of lading as: "A document issued by a carrier, or its agent, to the shipper as a contract of carriage of goods. It is also a receipt for cargo accepted for transportation, and must be presented for taking delivery at the destination." Bill of lading is a must and should be provided by the shipper at all costs, no matter the mode of transportation. Bill of lading is helpful to prevent thefts as well.

  • Import duty on marbles:

The import duty levied by governments of various countries is different everywhere. You can calculate the exact duty imposed by using the HTS codes. The World Customs Organization developed HTS codes or Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes. HTS code is assigned to the trader while importing and exporting goods.

  • Fumigation of Marble:

Marbles are made of stone and are rigid and uncompromising. Still, many countries consider them as agricultural commodities. We should fumigate the shipment and see there are no insects or pests. Other countries sent a CBP specialist to check the marbles. If they find even a tiny trace of pest or insects of any sort, they go with the fumigation of shipment right away.

  • Arrival Notices:

Arrival Notice can be described as a document used by freight carriers entering the other territory. It is used to notify the receiving party about the exact arrival date, time, and location. Arrival notice is also helpful in calculating any pending customs clearance. Any further transportation or pickup of goods starts after one has presented the Arrival Notice.

Endnote:

Everyone looking forward to starting import and export of marbles should consider these points as a golden rule. There are many other things to take care of, but these are some key highlights in the marble business. You should choose the best country to import from or export to based on the profit margin you can get from them. And then again, relationships with suppliers do get better over time, and you can end up having a good trading experience altogether.
