by Ravi Bhadauria ADMEC Multimedia Institute
WordPress is a free and open-source Content management System (CMS) based on PHP and MySQL Database. WordPress can be operated by both programmers and non-programmers as no knowledge of coding is required to manage the system. WordPress has in-built SEO Search Engine which doesn't require anyone to learn coding which can be difficult and confusing to many. It has both free and premium templates, plugins and themes that can give users multiple options. The main parts of WordPress is the Pages and Posts through which Blogs and other pages are created. Though the structure of WordPress pages and posts seems similar, yet there are some differences which differs pages from posts and below it is discussed in detail.

Posts
Posts are time-sensitive, that is it shows time, date, author etc. Posts ensures that your WordPress site is up-to-date and fresh. You can write blogs which are well dated in posts and these posts are listed in reverse chronological order. Site visitors and search engines can find different categories and tags with ease through posts. Thus, you have higher chances to get for traffic on your site.

Pages
Compared to posts, WordPress pages are simple and static, t does not contain any time, date, author etc. They are permanent as they mostly contain information about the site owner and about himself, for example, About us page and Contact us page.

HOW TO CREATE A POST IN WORDPRESS?
Go to Dashboard, hover over Posts option in the toolbar and click on the Add New.
Create a relevant Post title matching with the content you are going to write below.
To insert the content, you can either write it directly into WordPress or you can also copy your written content from the Microsoft word document and paste it into the WordPress site.
However, while pasting any content from Microsoft word document, make sure you go to Toolbar toggle and click on the Paste as text option as this is the safest way to copy and paste contents to WordPress site.
Now, press CTRL+V to paste the word content into WordPress visual editor, you will see that it does not format any of your contents.
You can also schedule the post by clicking on the Edit button below the Calendar in the right sidebar and select the date and time you want your post to be published.
Further, you may also save one post in multiple categories as it helps in organizing your blog.
Another way to organize post is by applying Tags which is found below categories in the right sidebar. Tags are keywords that can help guide people to your content, therefore each tag should be relevant to the content written.
Note that all tags should be separated with a coma in the Tag box.
Once you have added the Tags, go to top right and click on update to save the tags within the posts.
As it is done, click on Update and refresh the page. To preview the post, click on Preview Changes button.
