What Is That JavaScript Error When I Install McAfee with a Product Key?

by John Adward I am working as a technical expert

McAfee is today among the most well-known and reliable antivirus software. It keeps our computing machines safe against malicious files and folders, which are also collectively termed as viruses. It is always advised that you install antivirus software in your PC if you do online transactions and browsing. A free version of McAfee antivirus software can be downloaded from mcafee.com/activate. However, it is always recommended that you get a premium version, i.e., you should install McAfee with product key. In this blog, we are going to discuss a prevalent issue that users face while installing McAfee – JavaScript error.

What is McAfee JavaScript error?

If McAfee does not install due to a JavaScript error, it hampers the normal functioning of your PC. The error is encountered while working on an application of the PC. The JavaScript error demands immediate attention as it makes us unable to work on the application, and we are compelled to troubleshoot it anyhow. The JavaScript error occurs when JavaScript on the PC is missing or has corrupted.

Below are two methods to troubleshoot the JavaScript error:

Fix 1. Run the Preinstall tool on our device.

  1. Download the Preinstall tool from the Internet.
  2. Save the .exe file on Desktop so that it is readily accessible.
  3. Double-click on the .exe file to run it on your PC.
  4. Follow the on-screen information, and then click Finish.
  5. Click OK when the Preinstall tool installs successfully. Click the Close button and restart your PC.

Now try reinstalling the software and entering the McAfee activate product key again. If this method didn’t work, skip to the next one.

Fix 2: Repair the JavaScript scripting.

This method can be tried as sometimes the script of Java can corrupt. To repair JavaScript:

  1. Hold the Window key and press R.
  2. Type “cmd” in the search box (without quotes). Press Enter.
  3. Right-click on Command in the search results, and then click Open as Administrator.
  4. Type the following commands one by one in the command prompt window. Press enter after you type each command:
  • regsvr32 jscript.dll

After successfully typing these commands, you will get the success or failure result.

We hope that one of these methods will help you resolve the JavaScript issue. However, if none helped, you can always contact McAfee support or their Virtual Assistant.
