by Alleviare Life Sciences Private Limited Way Towards New Life
Lenalidomide is a medication that belongs to a class of drugs known as immunomodulatory agents. The drug is primarily used to treat multiple myeloma, a type of cancer that affects plasma cells in the bone marrow. Lenalidomide capsules, marketed as Lenalid, come in various strengths including 10mg, 15mg, and 25mg. In this article, we will focus on Lenalid 10mg and discuss its uses, dosage, side effects, and precautions.

Uses of Lenalid 10mg

Lenalid 10mg capsule works by stimulating the immune system to attack cancer cells. It also interferes with the growth of blood vessels that nourish cancer cells. Lenalid 10mg is used in combination with other medications to treat multiple myeloma in patients who have received at least one prior therapy. The drug is also used to treat myelodysplastic syndrome, a group of disorders that affect the production of blood cells in the bone marrow.

Dosage of Lenalid 10mg

Lenalid 10mg capsules are taken orally with water, once a day, at the same time every day. The capsules should be swallowed whole and not chewed or opened. The dosage and duration of treatment depend on the patient's medical condition and response to treatment. Patients should follow their doctor's instructions carefully and not alter the dosage or stop taking the medication without consulting their doctor.

Side Effects of Lenalid 10mg

As with any medication, Lenalid 10mg may cause side effects in some patients. Common side effects of Lenalid include fatigue, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and changes in taste. These side effects are usually mild and do not require medical attention. However, if the side effects persist or become severe, patients should consult their doctor.

Lenalid 10mg may also cause more serious side effects. These include blood clots, decreased white blood cell count, decreased platelet count, and increased risk of infection. Patients should notify their doctor immediately if they experience symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, swelling in the legs, fever, chills, sore throat, or unusual bleeding or bruising.

Precautions for Taking Lenalid 10mg

Before taking Lenalid 10mg, patients should inform their doctor if they have a history of blood clots, heart disease, liver or kidney disease, or if they are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Lenalid 10mg can cause birth defects and should not be used by pregnant women or women who may become pregnant. Women of childbearing age should use effective birth control during treatment with Lenalid.

Patients should also avoid taking Lenalid 10mg with alcohol or grapefruit juice, as this can increase the risk of side effects. Patients should not donate blood during treatment with Lenalid and for at least 4 weeks after stopping treatment, as the medication can be present in the donated blood and may cause harm to the recipient.
