What is Glass to Glass Latency?
There are three major factors that contribute to the latency of the camera when measuring glass to glass latency:
• Camera
• V4L2 layer/application layer
• Display
More details regarding the camera part:
• The latency of the data stream depends upon the resolution, framerate and exposure settings of the camera. For example, the higher resolutions will have higher latency compared to lower resolutions.
• At faster framerates, the readout time from the camera is reduced which also contributes to lower latency.
• The general rule of thumb for expected latency from a MIPI camera is 3-4 times of the current frame time.
