by Swetha Naidu Analyst

All the people with an addiction will do not have control over what they are doing, taking or using. Their addiction may reach a point at which it is more harmful.

Generally Addictions do not only include all the physical things what we consume, such as drugs or alcohol but may include few virtually anything, such abstract things as gambling to seemingly harmless products, such as chocolate - in other words, addiction may refer to a substance dependence for e.g. drug addiction and behavioral addiction for e.g. gambling addiction.

In the previous or past days, an addiction is generally used to refer just to psychoactive substances which will cross the blood-brain barrier, temporarily altering the chemical balance of the brain; this includes alcohol, tobacco, and some drugs. A considerable number of psychologists, and also other health care professionals and lay people now insist that psychological dependency, as may be the case with gambling, sex, the internet, work, exercise, etc. should also be counted as addictions, because they can also lead to feelings of guilt, hopelessness, despair, shame, failure, rejection, anxiety and/or humiliation.

When a person is totally addicted to something they cannot control how they use it, and they become dependent on it to cope with daily life.

A habit may eventually develop into an addiction:

Many of the people can use substances or become engaged in activities without any significant problems. Physical rehabilitation is one of the process of restoring and regaining physical strength and function. According to the Rehabilitation Journal, physical rehabilitation will be used to help treat a simple ankle sprain or to help a stroke survivor walk, talk and also to eat again.

Physical medicine and the rehabilitation physicians, nurses and physical, occupational, speech and recreation therapists work as a team to help patients reduce their dependency according to the Addiction research Journal, successful rehabilitation helps you get back to doing the things you love with the people you love.

Acute or Physician Care: For the serious injuries and the medical conditions like stroke, brain injury or multiple traumas, inpatient rehabilitation care follows an acute-care hospital stay. For injuries like sprains, strains and fractures, a visit to a physician will be the first line of care.

Inpatient Rehabilitation:  Few of the patients typically receive at least three hours of physical, occupational, speech or recreational therapy each day at a rehabilitation facility such as Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital-Allentown. A multidisciplinary team of physicians, therapists and nurses develop and oversee a treatment plan to meet individual goals.
