What Does Two Wheeler Insurance Cover?
by Ankit Passer insurance counsellorThere are mainly two types of bike insurance plans to choose from: third party liability only
cover and comprehensive cover.
Liability Only cover
This is a mandatory cover that all the motor vehicle owners must opt for. Third party motor
insurance protects an insured in case of a third party claim arising out of an accident
involving your two wheeler.
The policy covers the followings:
Injury or Death of Third Party
Compensation against third party property damage up to specified limits
Keep in mind that the third party policy will not cover any damage to your own vehicle under
any circumstance.
Package Cover
The package motor insurance policy or, the comprehensive motor insurance policy is not
mandatory. It’s a little bit costlier than the third party policy but there’s no doubt that you
should only go for the comprehensive bike insurance plan since it covers both third party
legal liability as well as any damage to your own vehicle.
This plan covers any accident by external means, explosion, fire, lightning, self
ignition etc.
Natural Calamities like Flood, Storm, Earthquake, Landslide, Rockslide, etc are
covered
Any damage to the vehicle while it’s in transit via air, road, elevator, inland
waterway, rail, lift, etc.
