Cleaning out the wardrobe is a chore that many people hate. Still, it has to happen every now and then. Many mothers clear out the wardrobe filled with baby clothes when the seasons change. Others do it randomly once or more times a year. Are you going to clean out your wardrobe or your child's wardrobe soon with lot of clothes?

Then, you should really check out these 7 tips!

1. Make sure you've just washed

It is best to tidy up the wardrobe if you have as much clothing from the owner of the wardrobe together as possible. You may think it's easier to tidy up when there are few baby clothes in the closet, but then you'll find that sorting everything out isn't going to work. So: first wash that entire laundry basket and only then clear out the wardrobe.

2. Conveniently empty the cupboard

Many closet clearing tips state that you should empty the closet shelf by shelf. However, I do not agree with them. It is better if you have the space for it, empty the entire closet. Clearly organize all types of newborn baby clothes into categories. By emptying the entire cupboard you can immediately sort everything, because often enough things end up on the wrong shelf. For example, put the items on the bed or on the floor in sorted piles.

3. Clean the cabinet

Over time, a wardrobe accumulates a lot of dust. It’s time to run through a fresh duster on your furniture piece. Thoroughly clean both the inside and the outside of the closet so that you can put your kid’s clothes back in it clean and dry. When you clean with a wet cloth, remember to also dry for a while. Moisture in the wardrobe can lead to mold or 'weather' in clothes.

4. Sort the clothes by size

Especially when clearing the wardrobe of children, you should first pay attention to the size. Does your child still fit these clothes well? Or are they getting too small. Be strict with this: no matter how comfortable that shirt is, if it is too small it has to go. Then put the clothes that no longer fit kids together in a box and keep them in the attic if you can't part with them.

5. Sort by season

Take another look at the baby clothes. Not according to size, but according to the season. Only put clothes in the closet that suit the coming season. When it comes winter, you put your warm clothes in the closet. When it comes summer, you opt for the entire summer collection plus a few warmer items of clothing for cool summer days. If you have a large wardrobe, it is possible to store the baby clothes for all seasons in the closet. That will put the clothes that are not for this season further back or up than the clothes you will be using in this season.

6. Organize the closet smartly

When you are cleaning out a wardrobe, you want to organize it smartly and efficiently. Therefore, first think about a logical order. Put the baby clothes you use often in the front of the closet at pack height. Does your closet have drawers? Then use it for socks and underwear. You can also place this in baskets on the shelves, preferably just below eye level so that you can see what you are getting. The clothes that are worn less often can be placed on the shelves above or below. This also applies in the wardrobe: hang clothes that are used a lot further in the front than clothes that are used less often.

7. What to do with old clothes of kids?

There are usually three categories of kids clothes that you don't want to have in your closet after cleaning out.

·        Clothes that no longer fit, but are still beautiful. Is it children's clothing and do you hope that another child will fit in it? Then you keep such newborn baby clothes. If not, sell it or give it away.Clothing that is not much worn or damaged. As long as the clothes are washed clean you can donate them.
