What are the Benefits of Renting a House or Room Alone?
by Mahesh DS Real Estate DeveloperStudying away from home or planning to work in a city away from your native
place? The first thing that comes to mind is where to reside? If you are new to
moving into a city, you will obviously stay in a room or house on rent. Now,
what you will be confused about it whether you will be living alone or sharing
the space with roommates. If you can afford the rent, utility bills and manage
everything else on your own, it is best to stay alone. Certainly, it gets
easier to share the bills and rent, and becomes fun living together but, there
are other benefits of living alone. Take a look.
Managing tasks
You have daily tasks to do - cleaning the house, washing the utensils,
doing the laundry, etc. You may divide the chores amongst yourselves but, it
still wouldn't be easy. You will have to complete the tasks regularly in a set
time frame for everybody's convenience. When you live alone, you have to do all
the work alone but, you can do it at your convenience. You might be lazy or
tired or not in the mood to work - simply quit the chores for the day, without
anyone having to bother you.
Differences in interests
When living together, each one of you might be having different tastes and
interests. Consider the food - one of you may like spicy tangy tastes, the
other one may like mild Indian tastes, while the other may like continental
food. Managing between the cuisines is a tough job. Not only cuisine, consider
every tiny thing you do. One may like loud hardcore music while the other may
like soft humming tunes. One may want to watch the TV while at the same time;
the other may want to sleep. Isn't it better you live alone and do what you
like?
Control over bills
When staying together, there are instances when the bill amounts rise high
up - may it be the light, water or internet. Who do you blame then for misusing
the appliances? You very well know that you haven't overused the appliances
but, you still cannot fight over the use of lights, geysers, airconditions,
internet or water. While, when you live alone, you know that you are paying for
what you use. If then you find the bills rising up, you can have complete
control over them.
Responsibility level
The biggest drawback of living alone is that you have to pay the rent all
by yourself. But, try to take this on a positive note. Paying a heavier rent
will let you realize the value of money, and you will make efforts to save more
and earn better if you are working. This will only make you a responsible
person.
Comfort level
Coming home from work or college, you want a place that welcomes you and
makes you feel at home. The decor and ambience of you room makes a huge
difference. When people are living together, you have to gel with everyone's
tastes - one may be from the South, the other from the North and you from the
West. What would you do then? You have no option other than combining the
tastes. But, if you live alone, you have the liberty to design your room just
the way you want it. You choose to have your room the way you want it to
welcome you after the busy day.
Social life
If you live with your roommates, you might find great friends in them and
would rely on them in times of both - worry and fun. You will not consider
moving out of this friendly zone to interact much with others around. While, if
you live alone, you will need someone to talk to and be with. This will compel
you to socially interact with different people, which will boost your
confidence level.
Now that you know quite a lot about renting a room with roommates or
without, it is for you to decide how you would like to reside. After all, it is
a personal choice.
