What are the Basic Consumer Rights Define by Consumer Protection Act 1986?

A consumer is a very important part of the marketplace. Without consumer, there is no definition of the marketplace and there is no any commercial place without consumers. Yet at the same time, buyers are served by countless quality products and ventures by suspicious makers or organizations for making increasingly dark cash.

Consumers are being continuously exploited by questionable manufacturers and company owners. Due lack of illiteracy and unawareness consumer are cheated by manufacturers and company owners. There are many consumers who are not aware of their consumer rights. But there are many online consumer forum who are always ready to give better guidance about consumer rights. 

Keeping in mind the end goal to secure the privilege of the consumer, the government ordered a law called Consumer Protection Act in the time of 1986 that gives 6 fundamental rights to the consumers. Everyone should need to aware of their rights and also need to keep in mind when they are going to purchase product and services.

There are following consumer rights define by Consumer Protection Act 1986

Right to Choose: It is consumers right to assure to have access to a variety of goods and services at competitive prices. MRP is not a government fixed price and can be bargaining upon since actual selling price could be lower, depending on local taxes and transport cost.

Right to Safety: Consumer has the right to protected against marketing of Goods and services which are hazardous to life and property. 

Right to information: A consumer has the right to be informed about the quality, quantity, potency, purity, standard and price of goods or services. 

Right to be heard: Every consumer has a right to be assured that his/her interests will receive due consideration at appropriate forums. 

Right to redressal: The consumer has right raise voice for redressal or asks about compensation against mishappenings, disputes, or losses against manufacturing companies or company owners. 

Right to consumer education: It is right of every Indian citizen to have education on matters regarding consumer protection as well as about her/his right.
