Whenever it comes to the most sought after clothing in our country, there is one part you will find familiar.  The styles from the designers of Paris, New York or Milan are no longer restricted to television channels or fashion magazines. Those forms or their versions are now readily available in our country. The popularity of western outfits has now come of age in India.

The dresses with Indian elements are also quite popular now. Admired as fusion fashion, it makes the western styles acceptable and wearable for the Indian masses.  The tunic tops, tie-dyed scarves or embroidered jackets seem to be the latest trend of the western outfits. The traditional ingredient in fashion has still maintained its place in the Indian mindset. It is quite evident in the fashion shows and exhibitions. Even when it comes to designing western outfits, the Indian design skills has a significant influence.

The western designers or their Indian counterparts have weaved Indian designs into the fabric and styles.  The Kashmiri Shawls or the Gujarati silk brocades blend so beautifully into the western dresses.  Indian textiles specifically are the perfect examples of what good design and artistry can be. The same applies to dresses of western styles.

Even the designers abroad catering to their private clientele, prefer to use and create a fusion style by incorporating the Indian motifs, fabrics, and embroidery.  The typical Indian floral patterns are a huge craze in European countries and America as well.  It is also witnessed the customization of these to suit the western aesthetics. The stitching and beading which was once unique to our country have found a distinct place in contemporary global fashion.

Back here in our country, the western outfits have been customized to suit the Indian customs and rituals. While the Indian saree still rules, the evening gowns or similar style dresses for women are also a craze when it comes to traditional ceremonies like marriages or other celebrations.

This transition is not only limited to the metros and bigger cities. It is steadily creeping into the Class B and C cities of the country.

The change in the Indian mindset towards a progressive orientation has played its role, leading to this gradual transition. The easy availability of such dresses and further the popularity of online shopping is another ingredient of this phenomenon.

From the clothes that are meant for daily wear to the fine ones, these dresses are a perfect example of artistry meet convenience.  More importantly, it is now no longer being seen as the invasion of the culture but as its gradual evolution.
