Volunteering is one of the enriching experiences one can ever get. Not only it gives a fulfilling feeling but also it is great in character building. Recent studies have shown younger adults who are in school or colleges sign up for volunteering programs. Therefore, if you strike the right chord you can also involve parents in India volunteer work.

Why is it important?

While the idea of parent involvement sounds great, real parent involvement is far more difficult. Most parents are busy and therefore they might not be actively supporting their kid’s growth, education and mental development. Therefore, you need to be careful while asking a parent to get involved in a volunteering program. Without any offensive comments you can highlight of the aspect of volunteering programs.

The aspects can be of:

Development of the personality:

Needless to say every parent will want their kids to be the best. They needs to be convinced that why they need to come along with their kids. You should keep special programs and contests that involve both the parent and the kids.

Affordability:

When it comes to taking up a volunteering program most people will look at the fees structure. You should mention the unique points of your volunteering programs. Additionally, volunteer programs in certain regions of the world go easy on pocket.
Therefore, volunteer organizations in India have an added advantage. Being a developing country, program fees, traveling expenses, food expenses etc anything will not burn a hole in their wallet. At the same time they will experience the culture and heritage of India.

Make a child care program:

You can ask the parents to take active part in volunteering options in slum areas, schools of unprivileged children and remote areas. This way they will also feel that they are also important part of the program. Additionally, they can also get to know what the problems are, the global community is facing. They will also feel the importance to make their children know about the global problems.

Making an active involvement:

No one want to feel left out and unproductive. When you are forming a parent involvement, devise it in a planned way. List out the entire details of the program, how they will participate and why is it required to come along with the child. If necessary you can take the help of local communities. They can help you devising a power pack plan that will give a 360 degree importance and effectiveness to the parent-child relationship

Referral incentives and other benefits:

This is always a hit.  You can give special incentives to those who can bring in new parent. This way it will help in creating a chain. Moreover, you can also give special offers to house parents. Commonly, it is easy for you to convince a parent who is looking after the household. This is because psychologists say that a house parent is willing to push more boundaries for their children than a working parent.

Short term programs:

This is best for working parents. Since they have prior commitments in their professional field, designing a long volunteering program is not recommended. You can structure a short term volunteering program for both the kid and the parent. However, you should not miss out on the child’s part. These programs may involve hospital visiting, school visiting, and fund collection for the underprivileged children.
