War Between Love & Marriage: Ishti Kutum

A channel which has constantly proved to be the number one destination for Bengali entertainment, Star Jalsa had a brand makeover in 2012, having not only new packaging and montage but also a new logo. Following a philosophy, Cholo Paltai which means 'Let's Change' the channel also launched additional shows such as Care Kori Na- a college based love story and Aanchol which is based on the lives of the different weavers of Bengal.

One of the popular serial's, which was launched on Star Jalsa in October, 2011 was Ishti Kutum TV show.  The show airs on the channel from Monday to Saturday at 6.30 PM with repeat telecasts at 11.30 PM on the same channel. The show, which was written by Bengali story writer, Leena Gangopadhyay was also directed by Saibal Banerjee, Diganta Sinha and Paramita Sengupta.
   
Tracing the life of Baha (Bahamoni), who is a simple, tribal girl who had been forced to get married (against her will) to Archisman Mukherjee who is a well-known photo-journalist, hailing from the city; only to save her honor.

However, he already has a relationship with another woman; whom, he promises to marry; his fiancé Kamalika Majumdar. Post their marriage, Baha promises not to mention a word about it to anyone as long as she gets refuge in return. So, she lives in Archi's house as a 'maid'! A show which brings the Indian audience face-to-face with hard-hitting cold reality.
 
What follows thereafter is how their relationship develops. The show has an array of different actors and actresses such as Rrishii Kaushik, Ronita Das,Madhabi Mukherjee,Chandan Sen,Sontu Mukherjee,Shankar Chakraborty,Saswati Guha Thakurta,Arindam Sil, Ankita Chakraborty,Badsha Maitra,WB01Y9247,Gautam Dey,Anushree Das,Sudip Sengupta,Sahana Sen,Manjushri Ganguly. This show marks the first serial to have ever Bangla or even Indian serial where the hero is known to be villaneous. This show which is popularly watched online, many fans of this show watch this serial via different portals from different parts of the world.

Taking an interesting turn of events, (her husband), Archi  who had initially hated her now begins to actually love her and wants to have a marriage which is legal Desiring a divorce with his current wife, Kamalika; Archi begins to see the simplicity and kindness he had not seen in Baha's heart. However, the question yet remains about whether Archi's family will accept Baha as the new daughter-in-law or reject her? How will her future shape up and is this the correct man for her?
