Walk off in style!

Time to bling up your shoes! With fashionistas and designers paying much attention to footwear, you cannot but sport a stylish pair of shoes. Footwear has always been a fascination for designers. Right from kitschy collections like the Fish Fry to the bridal jutis, we have seen bright colours on the feet, making a statement on the ramp. And now, we are seeing them on the streets too.
“Footwear fashion is something flexible. Inspirations and designs in shoes tread between the streets and the studios. Bright colours and prints on shoes are part of both high fashion and the street style,” says Tareshwar, who runs a Delhi-based design house KnT that specialises in handmade footwear. “People increasingly want to customise their shoes, not just the style and look but also the fit. Handmade and customised footwear is a hit across ages in big cities.”
However, for those who can’t afford the luxury of customised exclusive footwear, there’s no dearth of choice. Footwear brands have stocked upon blinding colours and peppy prints this season. The Payless footwear store at Vishal De Mal in the city, offers a wide range of shoes for men and women, the young and the old. From the stylish pumps and ballerinas that can go as work wear, the earthy sandals and laidback floaters and flip-flops that are perfect for daily wear to the party shoes like pencil heels, wedges and stilettos, the store is galore with shoes of all kinds and sizes.
Leopard prints, polka dots, sequin-studded shoes and glossy leather-made ones, ranging from Rs.1200 to Rs.1800 are ideal for occasions, while you may effortlessly glide your feet into the sober flat-soled ballerinas for an evening outing. The 10-month-old multi-brand outlet is an Australia based chain and has brought to town collections of footwear never seen before. Maduraiites may now shop for some chic shoes. “College-goers and middle-aged men and women form the chunk of our walk-ins. Our easy-to-wear line of shoes like the strapped sandals and colourful flip-flops are moving well among collegians. The high-end occasion wear is preferred by the matured group of customers,” says Arul, a salesman at the store.
At the Milanem Mall in K.K.Nagar, the Mochi shoe shoppe on the Ground floor is another haunt for shoe shoppers. Mochi’s collection for the season includes rubber flats with fibre straps and Kolhapuris in pastel shades. “They are enthusiastic buyers for the kolhapuris as they are versatile and can be teamed up with anything from ethnic wear to even western casuals,” says Ilaiya Kumar, the store Manager. “The brand has introduced a line for rainy season and it is being received well among the youth. Leather is expensive and it gets ruined in the rain, so we have come up with pocket-friendly simple designs.”
And the good news is that ‘End of season sale’ is on in most of these stores. Reliance Footprints at Vishal De Mal is flooded with colourful footwear that’s easy on the wallet. Starting from Rs.800 are the daily wear items such as canvas shoes and casuals, while the store also offers a separate line of sports-cum-casual shoes that are priced above Rs.1,200. Standing out in shades of orange, blue, yellow and red on white base, the casual-cum-sports line are essentially running shoes that can be useful for your morning runs and also gel well with your denims.Read more at:www.marieprom.co.uk/prom-dresses-manchester
