Volunteer Ghana! An approach to progressive nation
State of education in GhanaEducation plays a key role in supporting and shooting up the progressive rate of any country. Be it India or USA, the rate of development is primarily high owing to the quality of educational services and the increasing awareness of education amongst the civilians.
However, it is not the case with countries like Ghana. Though it is ranked as the 46th best country to study in, according to the standards of UNICEF, the quality and quantity of education still breeds in low numbers when compared to the international standards.
Talk to the locals, and you shall discover the same. In addition to the standard of education, you will find that the environment to study and other factors to be considered are not up to the mark, which worsens the condition.
Some factors affecting quality standards of education
Following are some factors that are hitting the standard of education in the nation, as stated by the locals and students on exchange based programs.
• Lack of educational sources: Ghana is a country boasting a widespread layer of greenery. In current times too, the number of villages exceed the number of cities and developed states in the country, which is a worrying cause as a majority of population lives in these villages having lack of educational sources.
• No proper sanitation: The nearby surroundings of the institutional places for education in Ghana are not cleaned properly. Students literally suffer studying in such an environment. A major part of some of the cities are under the size of garbage heaps and thrown garbage.
This is an alarming concern, as addressed by many international agencies.
• Lack of teachers- As teachers are given less financial support, they prefer to shift to other tasks instead of teaching. This also counts to the first point, as there is shortage of teachers, there will be no new set ups of educational resources.
What is Volunteer Ghana?
Volunteer Ghana is an initiative took by various non-profit organizations in Ghana to improve the educational and tidiness in the country. Volunteer India team and the Volunteer New Zealand team also support the initiative.
After the initiative commenced, the number of students appearing for school and the education rate is rising up steeply. Considering the data, the numbers shot up by a whopping 24%.
Condition of Volunteer Ghana in 2015
The initiative is being taken all over the world, including Volunteer Nepal and Morocco, which resemble the conditions breeding the educational and transformational pace in Ghana. The plans for the trio, i.e. Ghana, Morocco and Nepal are mutual in between and therefore the conditions are improving by the same numbers.
The initiative is being actively taken part in by the civilians of the country. The country is cleaner than before and more teachers are working for non-profit motive. Though it cannot be said that the country is still free of the chains of factors affecting quality of education in Ghana, there has been a good progress in the conditions.
