Vibrating Wire Readout- Specifications & Features

General:

The Geomonitor vibrating wire readout model has been designed to read most commercial available vibrating wire sensor with resonant frequency range of 400Hz to 6000Hz. It is also a inbuilt readout for temperature sensor which are often incorporated within some vibrating wire sensor. The read out can store VW and temperature reading in to memory and later stored data directly to the pc.

VWReadout (Vibrating Wire Readout) is low cost,portable battery operated unit which sense the vibrating wire such as piezometers, strain gauge, load cells, stress meters, extensometer, displacement transducer, settlement systems etc. It is a hand-held, robust, ABS plastic with a membrane keypad and digital display in the front. The VWsensor is connected to the read-out via connecter fly lead. The read out is powered by 10.2V rechargeable battery pack. If it is left switch on for a long time than it get switched off automatically after 5 minute. VW readout unit incorporate the low-power microprocessor programmed to perform various function including sensor excitation. By operating the key on the membrane keypad, the user is able to select a various option such as select sensor type, display mode, stored data, view stored data, VW logger, stored data from PC, to display reading in engineering unit.

An Auto Data logger allows the readout to carry automatic recording of one sensor at any pre-selecting time interval. For long time monitoring and supplementary power supply can be provided through additional battery. This feature is particularly suitable were the sensor is to monitored for a long periods that is pump testing.

Telemetry option will allow transmission of reading to PC, or catching a radio frequency. The readout has data storage memory of 7 KB to store up to 500 data lines. The stored data can be stored directly to a computer via RS232 cable link between the readout and pc. The data file will be in ASCII format which permit easy download to most spread- sheet or data base software programme (such as EXCELL, LOTUS 123). Software is provided for all readout operation. Accessories supplied with the  VW readout include battery charger, connecter fly leads, RS232 interface cable, and carrybag.

The display mode control on the live reading screen provides a variety of readout option: period of vibration in micro second, frequency squared x 10(-3) and Micro strain when used with strain gages. When reading load cell, a built-in multiplexer automatically scan through the entire vibrating wire sensor, averages the reading, applies the calibration factor and offset, and displays the load directly in engineering units. In addition, a programmable mode permits programming to display the sensor output in engineering units, via configuration created and edited in the sensor selection screen. Thousand of sensor is defined, limited only by the storage remaining on the SSD. Data is stored and logged on a per-sensor basis.

VW readout device is of weight of 1.1 kg with the resonant frequency from 400 to 6000 Hz. It can be operated under the temperature of -10 to 50 Oc. Battery pack up of this device is 10.2V.3.0 hr and it is rechargeable.
