Varied Types of Enchanting Pergolas

by Mr Peter Peter Smith
A pergola acts as a support for climbing plants, shade and just for adding visual charm to space. When you install a pergola in your backyard, it can provide the perfect shade to spend quality time with your loved ones, alone reading your favorite book, sipping your evening tea or just listening to the chirping of the birds. It will provide the perfect protection from harmful UV rays and give you the space to relax, sit and spend peaceful moments.

You can either build a pergola from the scratch or even plan to purchase a custom designed one that will save your time and energy.

Columned Pergola

Here columns are used for building a pergola. The backyard appliance and pergola designer uses four Corinthian or Roman-style columns designed using poured concrete or PVC for additional strength. The top four sides are framed with wooden beams and smaller trellises or beams are added for building the top. The top plain is left or covered with canvas shade. This form of pergolas is ideal for Tuscan style or conventional homes. The architectural presence of the columns and Porcelain Pavers Abington, MA provide a visual treat to the landscape.

Arched Pergola

Here, the designer creates the top in an arch style, instead of utilizing flat beams for the top of the pergola. The arch gives a dome-like curve on the top for adding airiness. The designer uses iron, steel or redwood for building the arch. You have the option of buying readymade arches that are designed using weather-resistant iron and steel from a credible home and garden improvement store. This style is often used by the designers to give the garden a special appeal. This pergola form makes an excellent choice for pass-through to the garden or entryway.

Japanese Pergola

Japanese pergola is ideal for an Asian inspired garden. Here the pergola and Patio Paver Supplies Milton MA designer or the garden designer use redwood or cedar materials and paint it red for making it the main attraction of your garden. Even if your home or garden is not designed in Asian style, you can still choose this form of a pergola for adding beauty and class to your garden. The designer will place the pergola between the flower garden and the lawn for giving the two spaces a beautiful transition point. For anchoring the piece and softening its appeal, you can even place potted trailing roses on either side. The designer may even recommend using this pergola for framing a water fountain or a wooden bench!
