Valentine Day Gift Cards For Kids

Valentine’s Day is not just for young couples, people of all ages and cultures observe this event as special in their lives; children are no different! The week preceding Valentines is one of excitement and fun in schools and educational institutions across America. Teachers take the opportunity to introduce children to the ‘universal message of love’. That Valentine day cards are not just for and the feast is as significant for children and older people is something that is explained to the little ones.

Children learn to spend time and give thought to what their bestie would appreciate as present. They are then encouraged to work on valentine day crafts and make handmade personalized gifts. The objective of doing this exercise is twofold; one, children learn to think of others beyond their own needs; and two, they learn to acknowledge what is good and appreciable in others. This is even more significant today because most couples live in nuclear families and have one child, in most cases duly spoilt!

Spending time with friends, working on crafts, writing personalized messages help children bond and build a healthy friend circle. That goes a long way in shaping a good, caring yet strong character. Occasions such as Valentines offer ample opportunity to encourage a concept such as explained above.

The most popular February craft is perhaps the quintessential Valentine day cards. Children try and get as creative as possible. Older children can make card holders, paper toys and paper ‘best friend’ dolls.

The pop-up heart card

Little ones will definitely need help while trying to make one. All you need is handmade chart paper cut into standard card size. And some plain red glazed paper to make the pop-up heart. Draw what you please and color with crayons on the front page of the card. Measure and cut a thin strip of glazed paper. Trace out a tiny red heart and fold it right in the middle, stick both the ends of the card to carefully cut rectangular strips. Open the card and stick each end of the thin strip on each side. So when your loved one opens the card a tiny red heart will pop up. Don’t forget to add a personal message.

Cartoon Character Card

A great way to warm up to your best friend on Valentines is to trace a picture of your friend’s favourite cartoon character on a hand cut chart paper shaped as a card. Use vibrant colors and write a nice message. Always advisable to write something funny and interesting so the person will always remember you with love.

Collage card

This concept is a sure shot winner. Get computer print outs of you and your best friend along with the others in your group; take a colored chart paper and cut a paper greeting card. Tear these pictures carefully just as you would do for a normal collage and stick them on the front face of the card. Write a special message inside and your valentine day card is ready!
