Generally, Vacuum pump is a device to remove gas molecules from a sealed volume. It is a pump for exhausting gas from an enclosed space. The first vacuum pump was invented in 1650 by Otto von Guericke, and was preceded by the suction pump.

Especially in the field of transformer maintenance, vacuum pumps plays an vital role, it helps in increasing the life time of transformers.
