April is here and with that comes the month of festivals and ceremonies. Be it Ugadi, Gudi Padwa or Navratri. However, for someone celebrating any of the three - fasting comes as a no brainer. And if you are up for trying out something fun, delicious and easy to cook - these fasting recipes for Ugadi can work wonders.

Let’s get into it.

Sabudana Khichdi: Tapioca Pearls can be flavoursome and yet so very simple. It’s a popular dish for Indians during the fasting season. Here’s how you can try your hands on the same.

Step 1: soak sabudana with water and keep it aside for overnight. Use the 1:1 ratio for the same, for instance, 1 cup sabudana will require 1 cup of water for soaking.

Step 2: Drain off any excess water from the sabudana next day using a colander.

Step 3: To prepare the khichdi, add oil in a pan on medium heat and when hot, add cumin seeds and allow them to sizzle for a couple minutes.

Step 4: Next add diced potatoes and cook for 3 to 5 minutes. Stir it often until they are almost cooked.

Step 5: Now, add raw peanuts to the pan and stir until all ingredients mix well. Next, add green curry leaves and cook for a minute before you saute it with your choiced flavours.

Step 6: To add spice and taste to your sabudana khichdi add red chilli powder, salt and a pinch of sugar. Now, add the drained sabudana to the mix and stir well to ensure all the spices are spread out evenly across the khichdi.

Pro Tip: In case you are missing out on any items required for making this khichdi, you can do so by ordering from a grocery delivery service. Not only do they deliver it quicker but also leaves you the time to visit a local grocery mart.

Use sweetened yogurt on the sides with your khichdi and you are good to go!

In a similar fashion, you can make Sabudana Kheer, Sabudana Vada, Kheer and more as an entire 4 course fasting meal during Ugadi.

Ugadi Festival Recipes tend to be subtle in cooking and offer a smorgasbord of spice and flavours. You can always look up for recipes on the same and tantalize your taste buds as and how you like it.
Apart from these fasting recipes, you can try out Arbi Kofta with Mint Yogurt, Banana Walnut Lassi or even Kuttu Ka Dosa.
