Useful Information About Parti Poodles

Practically every canine breed has subdivisions within itself based on slight differences in the animals. These might be separated by sizes, colors or patterns, unique abilities or even variations in their physical appearance. Parti poodles are a distinctive group that has a specific look that makes them special enough to have their own categorization.

The only thing that sets this subset apart from the breed as a whole is the design specifics of its coat. The fur is still the same type, being either curly and puffy or corded and thick. This is a dual toned grouping that has a few particulars that distinguish them from other multi colored types such as Abstracts, Tuxedos or Mismarked.

In solid toned dogs, black, blue, silver, cream, gray, white, apricot, red, brown and cafe' au lait are all very common. Any of these hues may also be present on the groups of multi colored pups. The way they are presented is the important factor and it should be noted that the shade they are at birth may not be their coloring as an adult.

This category supports dogs in any size group as long as their coat meets the very strict requirements. The most obvious distinction is that more than half of the fur must be of a pristine white. This snowy canvas will be broken up by intermittent splotches of any secondary color, appearing anywhere on the body.

A sign that the dog has good breeding is that the white is super clean with no shade variations or color markings of any kind. The boundaries of the secondary hue are very sharply defined as well. They absence of blending and fading between the two tones is what gives the animals their very special appearance.

When they are first born, it can be rather challenging to properly determine whether a puppy born to a dam or sire not of this type, belongs in this category. The primary reason is that this breed often changes the patterns and colors of their fur while reaching adulthood. There will never be any that are identical and only the breeding of two from this group is guaranteed to produce a litter that does qualify.

Members in this group might possibly be identified early on if instead of a single skin tone over their whole body, they display differently pigmented flesh beneath areas of coloring on the coat. A dominant trait of this breed is ticking, black spots that randomly appear on strands of fur, and while most of the dogs have it, those of this subset can not have any present on the white sections. In an effort to minimize this type of marring, breeders often avoid using dams or sires who strongly display this feature.

Even though they are extremely beautiful, the AKC will not allow dogs in this category to participate in show and conformation events. Since they do possess the physical build and behavioral traits that define the breed, the club will allow owners to register them under numbers defining their colors for entry into the competitions that feature agility and obedience. Good looks, intelligence, affection and gentle playfulness are just some of their attractive qualities.
