It will not end here as this COVID-19 affects the electronic supply chain too that may continue for months.

In this coronavirus pandemic, grocery mobile app development is working as a saviour as many people are preferring to buy grocery items online rather than go outside and shop. Online shopping has been increased by 34% and April saw the largest monthly drop in prices in the last five years. Also, shopping for comfort things increased more than normal items. Additionally, April also saw growth in particular areas and there was acceptance for the idea like- ‘buy online and pick up in-store’.

As per the Adobe’s report, there was such a huge jump in online shopping too and e-commerce purchases for beers, wine, spirits, and other items were up to 74% this month. 4 Ways That Will Define the Effect of COVID-19 on Online Retailing

Here are four ways to reflect the coronavirus impact-

Hike in Online Shopping

As many people are avoiding going out from home and applying social distancing, online shopping will be an effective way for them to purchase groceries, food, and other essential items. Consumers are moving towards online shopping to avoid any type of infection, that’s the reason for 495 increments in sales.

Recession in Discretionary Products

Various businesses are laying off their employees due to the economic crisis and shut down of the economy, which can cause a deep recession spread. During this time, all sales will be decreased and people will buy only essential items like healthcare products, food, pet supplies, and household staples. As we all know that the economy will not rebound so soon and discounting could be fierce at the time of the holiday season.

Diversion of Online Retailers

Due to the coronavirus, China, the center of global manufacturing, and the center of various types of goods have been shut down and there is doubt whether this country would work as a reliable source of products in the future or not.

So, many retailers are being in close touch with suppliers and requiring a non-Chinese supply source in early March 2020. It means that China would have a big impact on retail sales in the future. Because of this, On-demand grocery delivery apps are now also trying to sell the items that are non-Chinese to improve the economy of the nation.

Mobile Services and Omnichannel

These types of mobile services and channels are helping consumers to shop online without going to the store. Just download the grocery apps and order the essential things at home with the online payment. It will avoid getting any type of infection during this time.

Conclusion

In this pandemic, e-commerce and retailers are giving their contribution to handling the situation of economic crisis. Enhancement in the purchase of online grocery seems helpful as US e-commerce sales jumped by 49% through this in April. Grocery delivery apps are helping the consumers by providing services of delivering grocery items at their doorsteps. It appears that COVID-19 has accelerated the process of e-commerce.
