Upper Back Pain Causes

by Jeff S. Keep moving
For years, upper back pain is considered the most common and popular ailment around the world. It does not question why lots of people are undergoing this ailment. We are now in the generation wherein lots of things are accomplished just by sitting on a couch forgetting the concept of proper posture. With this article, you will have the ability to be aware of the common and probable cause of upper back pain.

The causes of upper back pain may be divided into two (2) major types which are the muscular irritation and the joint dysfunction. The upper back pain may also occur because of the other diseases such as the degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, herniated disc, and the spondylolisthesis. There is also a rare situation wherein people with heart problems are also experiencing upper back pains.

The upper back pain caused by the joint dysfunction is felt when the vertebrae and the ribs that are connected to the upper back failed to work properly due to the displacement of the involved joints. However, the upper back pain caused by muscle irritation is caused by the strained muscles located at the upper back. This occurrence is often caused by traumas and accidents that hit the upper back severely. Athletes are very prone to this type of upper back pain because they are the type of people who are always tired of working out and sometimes, they also experience sports injuries often than what the normal people do. Although not that popular, vomiting and sneezing can also contribute to upper back pain. This is due to the force that the back exerts while vomiting and sneezing. Upper back pain is not limited to those people who are always doing heavy jobs. Workers who stay for a long time on a couch can also undergo upper back pain. This is due to the restricted blood flow that hinders the functions of the muscles, ligaments, and joints. If there’s a restricted amount of blood reaching the significant parts of the upper back, trauma will surely follow.

Aside from the major types of upper back pain causes stated above, there are also uncommon causes of upper back pain that will surely induce severe pain to its affected individual. One of these uncommon causes is the herniated disc. The herniated disc is a condition wherein the discs that are located between the two (2) vertebrae are severely injured because of an accident. Damaged discs can result in the unstable balancing of the patient. Other diseases can also cause upper back pain such as arthritis, back spasms, fibromyalgia, and osteoporosis.

The available treatments for upper back pain will produce desirable results if the patient will first undergo tests such as MRI or CT scan. After acquiring the findings, you may now let a physical therapist review it to apply necessary exercises to cure your upper back pain. Though this treatment is not instant, you will surely achieve your desired results.
