The Board of High School and intermediate education in Uttar Pradesh is commonly known as UP Board. The headquarters of the board which came into existence in the year 1921 are located in Allahabad. The establishment of the board was done majorly to affiliate various schools in Uttar Pradesh. Presently, huge numbers of public schools and government schools are affiliated to UP board. The board conducts board examinations for class 10th and 12th. Moreover, it is responsible for supplying study material and syllabus to schools as well.
Every year, the number of students who appear in board examination is showing an increasing trend. In 2014, 3,73,284 students appeared in exams and the pass percentage was around 89.19%. Last year, 4,23,671 students took up board examinations and 93.73% students qualified the examinations. This year it is estimated that approximately 5,55,301 students will sit in examination halls and around 95% students will get passed.
