Understanding Savate French Boxing

Every country has its sports it is known for. Savate French Boxing is the chief martial art of the French. In the 19th century, players used to wear heavy boots while playing the game hence the name Savate. In French, the word "Savate" is a synonym for "shoe," The male savate practitioners are called savateur while the females are the savate use. In this kind of boxing, the participants are allowed to use only the foot kicks. However, modern savate boxing combines some of the western features. These might include a combination of the hands and feet.

The modern boxe française (French boxing) is a mixture of French street fighting techniques. Savate boxing was a common type of street fighting in Paris and northern France. However, sailors from the south introduced a fighting style involving high kicks and open-handed slaps. It is widely believed that this kicking style was developed to let fighters to use hands to hold onto something for balance. This was mostly on a rocking ship's deck. It is believed that the kicks and slaps were used on land. This was necessitated by the need to avoid the legal penalties for using closed fists. This was so because a fist was well thought-out as a deadly weapon. French boxing was known as the game from Marseille. It was later renamed "slipper", after the sailors’ shoes. Savate boxing made an ultimate leap in 1924 at the Olympic Games in Paris. It is here that it was included as a demonstration sport. Further, the International University Sports Federation (FISU) recognized Soviet in 2008. This gave room to an opportunity for official Savate boxing University World Championships.

Penalties are given in cases where excessive force is applied. When it comes to Pre-combat, full-strength fighting is allowed. However, fighters are allowed to wear protective gear. This might include shin guards and helmets.

In French boxing Savate, glove colors are used to indicate the fighter’s level of expertise. If a fighter moves to a higher rank, changing of glove colors is not a necessity.
