Understanding how adjustable beds can work in the home
The modern adjustable bed is based upon the traditional hospital bed, having parts which can move up and down in order to increase the comfort of the sleeper. Also known as the electric bed, adjustable beds have a surprising range of different features which can make choosing the perfect option very difficult. In order to make your choice easier, there are a few things that you can do in order to work out which is the best adjustable bed for you to select. Whether you want a simple lifestyle bed, or a full profile bed, there are plenty of reasons to choose this type of equipment in your home.
Choosing a lifestyle bed
One of the most traditional forms of electric adjustable bed is the lifestyle bed. These are devices which offer sit up functions that allow you to make the upper part of the bed rise and fall, depending upon what you are doing. Sit up functions make it easier to read a book, or to eat breakfast in bed. While lifestyle beds offer basic support for your back while you are sitting up, they tend not to offer very much in the way of other types of sleeping options and will not have height adjustment options. They are the best choice if you want to have a bed which is comfortable and supportive, but don't need one for health reasons. If you do have health problems which mean that you need a more supportive bed, then you would be better off thinking about another option.
The profile bed
Sometimes known as profiling beds, these are adjustable electric beds which allow you to have a range of different positions, including sitting, sleeping, knees raised, and also height adjustment. They can be ideal for anyone with specific problems with health needs or medical requirements. Most modern profiling beds use electronic adjustment, being controlled by a simple handset remote which allows you to adjust the bed in comfort. There are several different types of beds which perform this function, including two-part beds, allowing you to raise the upper part of the bed, three-part beds which allow you to raise both the top and the bottom of the bed, and four-part beds which will allow you to have a flat seated part in the middle. All of these beds offer additional comfort and provide you with support for your health problems.
