Grocery shopping via the internet has been an increasingly popular alternative to actual supermarket excursions in the United Kingdom (UK), as well as other parts of the world, since the dawn of the internet era, and with a big push from the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic. The number of people shopping for food and other consumables online in the United Kingdom has increased in the previous decade. Moreover, even though online grocery and food store sales had been gradually growing year after year, the average value of online purchases unexpectedly surged in the second quarter of 2020, coinciding with the onset of the pandemic.

Physical shops, in the form of numerous store types, currently account for the majority of food purchasing. However, as the internet has become more accessible, many customers have been more receptive to the concept of shopping for groceries and meals online. For the record in 2019-20, 10% of males and females in the UK used the internet to buy food once a week. Only roughly a third of those polled said they had never purchased food online. Another cause for the rise in online food and grocery shopping, as previously noted, is the coronavirus epidemic, which has resulted in several lockdowns.

Indian Grocery Online and Food Retailers

Many people have begun or increased their food shopping online as a result of the viral epidemic, as it is safer than visiting a physical Indian Grocery Store. In 2021, moreover 40% of UK buyers predicted that once the epidemic was ended, they would continue to shop for food online at the same level as they do now.

One of the frequently used grocery platforms in the UK are:

Sadda Superstore

Tesco

Sainsburys

Iceland

Asda

Amazon

Morrisons

Mark & Spencer

Co-op

Waitrose

Ocado

There are many more, but these are the most frequent grocery stores used frequently in the UK.
