Ubisoft Forward: Exciting Announcements and Releases

by Karen Jodes technology world

Owing to the pandemic, the company was unable to hold its usual yearly press conference this June. The alternate digital event was held instead, and uncovered some major upcoming games such as Far Cry 6, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs: Legion and many more. More titles would be announced in the successive Ubisoft Forward event that will be held later into the year. Let’s take a look at the major proclamations made during the event.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the player will relive the Viking invasion of England. It is very different from the previously released Assassin’s Creed Games. Your health will no longer regenerate, and you will have the option of having your cat accompany you during a raid. The new version also includes “Viking rap battles” and a mini fishing game. Valhalla will feature the largest variety of enemies ever assembled in an Assassin’s Creed game. The game is set to release on the 17th of November and will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC.

Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6 will be set on a tropical island, Yara. It was announced that Gus Fring, famous for his role in the popular Netflix series “Breaking Bad” will be playing the villain in the game; Giancarlo Esposito. A lot hasn’t been revealed regarding the game mechanics. However, weapons like the disc launcher and a “wiener dog on wheel” will be available for hire. The game will be released on the 18th of February next year for the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and 5 respectively, Google Stadia and PC.

Brawlhalla

The is one of the company’s popular fighting games and will be launched for the Android and iOS handset devices on the 6th of August. The game will sport cross-play and customisable controls across all the platforms. More fighters will be added to the initial set of 50 with the upcoming updates.

Hyper Scape

This shooter game by Ubisoft will be played in the first person POV. The game features an interesting Echo system that lets the dead players continue within the game until they are revived. This makes you feel like you are contributing to the team as a spotter even when you’re essentially dead. The release date for this game, however, is yet to be announced with the game starting its open beta face. You could download the beta version through the Ubisoft’s UPlay service.

The Crew 2

The Crew 2 is a racing video game where the player is tasked with completing a set of missions. The new update for the game, “Summer in Hollywood,” features exclusive modded events, Neon Battles and The Beach.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint

This game has undergone a major update that has changed the way the game can be played. With the introduction of the Ghost mode, players may experience the game in 3 ways. The first being the way the game was normally played. The second way provides a more immersive experience by doing away with the gear level and adding a better loot system. The third options offer a custom player experience where the player can strike the right balance between the regular setting and the immersive setting.

Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet

Inspired from the comedy series for the Apple TV+, this game is expected to be launched soon. However, at the event itself, only a small glimpse of a playable sandbox was revealed to the audience.
