Types of Therapy for depression

Nervous breakdown is the root cause of depression in an individual. This sort of mental illness leads an individual to losing all qualities and behavioral traits resulting to fatal effects on the health and also on character to an extreme level. Depression is of varied type and is necessary to be dealt with in a distinctive manner. The way of dealing is also different as treatment is individual based also sometimes situation based.

The symptoms of a depressed person are short tempered, lack of enthusiasm, lethargic and exhausted. Some of the individuals also become pessimists with negative thoughts filling their mind. In extreme cases the individual feels lonely and tries to avoid socializing al also to meet people. The ultimate fate of a depressed person if not treated can lead an individual to commit suicide.

There are many therapies are suggested to sure a depressed person obviously these therapies are individual specific. Each and everyone has distinct features and needs to be dealt with in a very professional manner as depression is a very serious issue and be fatal like trying to kill ones’ own self. Some of the suggested therapies for depression include group therapy, individual counseling, medication management, family therapy, psychotherapy, cognitive behavior therapy, narrative therapy, interpersonal skills and supportive therapy.

In group therapy is the treatment given to a person to play a part in group and also amongst their friends. One of the most risky therapies of all is the individual depression therapy where the patient gives time to one’s own self and away from people. Medical management is the process where the depressed person can take control of himself whenever the need be.

Cognitive therapy is the mixture of the fusion of both the behavioral patterns and interpersonal skills which helps an individual to be well mannered. The conversion of the negative thoughts in the individuals mind is corrected and conveyed back to the individual to bring him back to normal condition. Use of excess talking or communication helps the person to stop thinking about these problems and move towards positive direction.

In the narrative therapy the individual is given information through narration of different facts and realities. In the supportive therapy the counselor listens to your problems and doesn’t fail to provide support for the same making the depressed person feel better. Another type of therapy where the individual is asked to stay with different type of people just like a family this is known as family therapy.
