Three main types of insulators are used in overhead transmission lines. These insulators are; suspension insulator, pin insulator and strain insulator. Two insulators are used for low voltage applications. These two insulators are stay insulator and shackle insulator.

Suspension insulators are used in higher voltage applications, where the pin insulator cannot be used. The suspension insulators are linked in series in form of a string and the bottom most insulators is used to carry the transmission line. The major benefit of using suspension insulator is that by increasing the number of discs, the insulator can be made for any voltage. Because of the disc system, the damaged disc can be removed easily .The stress on the insulator is also less since the insulator is hanging on the flexible string. However, the suspension insulator can be expensive than other insulators. It also requires more height from the ground to clear the conductor away from ground.

Pin insulator has been in use for a long time now. It can be in one part, two parts or three parts according to the voltage. These insulators Porcelain insulators manufacturers in Delhi come with sheds to prevent the rain water entering the insulator. They are made of porcelain material.

Strain insulators are the suspension string with heavy conductor tensile load. The strain insulator is used when there is sharp corner in the transmission line or there is dead end in the transmission line. The strings used in this type of insulator have considerable strength and insulation properties.

Stay insulators are used in low voltage overhead lines. These insulators keep the stays insulated from ground. The stay insulators are designed in such a way that the wire never falls on the ground in case of any breakage. On the other hand, the shackle insulators are used in low voltage distribution network. It’s used in vertical as well as in horizontal position. However, the use of this type of insulator has decreased in recent years due to undergrounding of distribution lines. The soft binding line is used to fix the conductor in the groove of the shackle conductor.

The job of the lighting arresters, on the other hand, is to take the lighting surge safety to the ground and Lightning Arresters Manufacturers in Delhi  prevent the damage to persons and equipment. The lighting arrests are used to conduct the electricity conduct safely. The grounding path should be created for every electrical system. The grounding rods must be inserted into the ground at least ten feet away from each other. The ground should be conductor of the electricity.
