Spring is officially upon us, which means lots of rain. While spring showers can actually be quite nice, they can also create problems for homes that don’t have gutters that are properly installed and in good shape. The reason gutters are especially important during this time of the year is they ensure all that excess water is carried away from a home. If water doesn’t have anywhere to go, it will accumulate around a house and may cause problems with everything from siding to the foundation.

If you already know that you’re in need of Cincinnati gutter repair or installation, it’s helpful to understand some of the basics of this element of a home. Although you can call us directly and get answers to any questions you may have about your gutters, we thought it would be helpful to use this post to highlight the different types of gutters a homeowner may already have or should consider for a replacement:

Fascia Gutters

This type of gutter is specifically designed to attach to a fascia board. While some homes in Cincinnati have these gutters, they’re much more common in the Western half of the United States.

Half Round Gutters

The best way to know what this type of gutter looks like is to think of how a pipe would look if you took it and cut it in half lengthwise. This type of gutter is more often found on older styles of homes rather than new ones. While half round gutters have a smooth surface that’s relatively easy to clean, their main weakness is they don’t hold as much water as other gutter types.

K-Style Gutters

Also known as ogee gutters, these gutters have a look that is similar to crown molding. In general, these gutters are fairly strong as long as they are installed properly.

Sectional Gutters

This is the most common type of gutters. However, that doesn’t mean sectional gutters are ideal. Without proper care or the help of a gutter cleaning service in Cincinnati, these gutters are likely to get clogged fairly quickly. They’re also the most likely type of gutter to start leaking.

Seamless Gutters

Of all the different types of gutters, these are the ones we highly recommend. If your home’s gutters are in a position that requires replacement instead of repair, you should strongly consider seamless gutters. What makes these gutters such a good choice? With traditional gutters, installation is done in sections. This means that there are seams at different points along the gutters.

Those seams generally aren’t very attractive and can make gutters more likely to clog. By opting for seamless gutters, you can avoid that problem and invest in gutters that will work reliably for a long time to come. Seamless gutters also function great with Cincinnati gutter protection solutions.
