Laser is used in eye surgeries to reshape the cornea of eye to improve the vision. The use of laser is involved all types of surgeries.  The laser surgery is done to cure the short- sightedness, long -sightedness and astigmatism.  The surgeon uses the laser to reshape the surface underneath the flab.  After reshaping the eye, the flab is put back to cover the laser treated area of the eye. This flab is created by the surgeon so that the underlying corneal area can be treated with laser. The difference in surgeries lies in the use of laser.

Wavefront- guided is like the Lasik surgery in which irregularities of the eye are cured to improve the eye sight.  In PPK, photo refractive keratectomy, the use of laser is involved to correct the mild to moderate long and short distance vision problem along with astigmatism. In this surgery the laser with cooling beam of ultraviolet light is focused on the surface of the cornea. Here, the flab is not cut to focus laser beam on the area underneath the flab. That is the difference between this surgery and Lasik surgery. Since this surgery does not need flab, no cut is needed to create a flab from cornea.

In lasek surgery, Laser Eye Surgery in Delhi positives of both PPK and Lasik surgery are combined. The epitheal flab is created by using a solution with 20 % alcohol. The cutting and stitching is not involved in this surgery.  The eye problem of short sightedness, long sightedness and astigmatism can be cured.

The result of these surgeries is excellent and patients are able to get the desired results within few hours. However, there are still some issues, which are rare, but can occur in some cases.  Case of infection comes more with PPK surgery than with Lasik surgery method. If infection happens then the healing process can be longer and patient may get some discomfort. In case of under correction, the patient may need additional surgery. The excess cornea haze may also cause poor vision after surgery. The cornea can be part of the natural healing process after some laser surgery. This side effect may be just a temporary phase in the vision of the patient. And final outcome of the surgery Eye Treatment Delhi India is not affected by these short term issues .however; if issue of haze persists then the second surgery may be required. The chances of corneal haze are more in PPK than with Lasik surgery. Other side effect is the gradual disappearance of results of the laser surgery. In such cases, the second surgery is performed to get the permanent result. The issue of flab damaged is with Lasik surgery.  The flab may get detach and cause damage to the cornea. The halo effect during night can also occur to some patients. This is due to the enlarge pupil producing second image. Halo effect can affect night driving.
