After a recent study conducted by researchers at Kobe University in Japan, you can now add weight loss solution to drinking tea’s many health benefits. According to the research, regular consumption of tea can suppress weight gain, so it’s not at all surprising that diet tea variants are everywhere in the market today, each one promising quick and effective weight loss without a single sit up.

Green Tea. EGCG or epigallocathechin gallete is the active ingredient of green tea that gives it it’s fat burning properties. EGCG plays a role in increasing one’s metabolism which leads to burning fat much quicker. Green tea also has a thermogenic effect on the body securing a spot in the list of fat burning foods. In fact, reports have said that there are individuals who have lost 8lbs in a year just by drinking green tea.

Oolong Tea. Also called Wu-Long, this tea is fast becoming as popular as green tea when it comes to diet tea variants. Although not as widely scientifically studied as the latter, the few researches about Oolong tea has found to be an effective fat blocker. Scientists at the University of Tokushima has found that drinking oolong tea doubles the amount of fat being expelled by the body as a result of a 17-day study involving 12 Japanese adults.

Pu-erh Tea. Reportedly this diet tea is the secret to Victoria Beckham’s svelte figure. Followers of this diet tea recommend that beginners drink one cup after each meal – breakfast, lunch, dinner – for three months before switching to just one cup a day. The different types of Pu-erh tea are maocha tea, raw pu-erh tea, cooked pu-erh tea and aged raw pu-erh tea.

Kombucha Tea. In ancient China, Kombucha tea was more than a diet tea it was known as the fountain of youth. Made from simple fungi and live bacteria, it helps in proper food digestion which can affect weight loss results. It’s suggested to drink it 30 minutes before a meal for maximum effect.

Ginseng Tea. As one of the most used in weight loss supplements available in the United States, ginseng tea is one of the top diet tea out in the market. Just like green tea, ginseng is also a metabolism booster. And according to the University of Maryland Medical Center, the Siberian ginseng variant improves stamina and muscle strength.

White Tea. Having the least amount of caffeine content among all teas doesn’t mean that it is less as effective as a diet tea. According to experts, white tea has properties that inhibits the development of fat cells in the body. Some sources even claim that white tea is thrice as powerful as green tea when it comes to health benefits and losing weight.

Ginger Tea. Included in the list of effective fat burning foods, ginger has been proven to help boost metabolism by around 20%. It has thermogenic properties that increase body heat and expand blood vessels. This promotes good blood circulation that improves detoxification.
